A WEDDING PLANNING CHECKLIST FOR NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES
If you are finding it difficult to stay on top of the wedding planning process, creating a checklist can definitely spare you from any unwanted stress; as it allows you to jot down everything that needs to be done before the wedding, without turning into a full-on Bridezilla in the process.
And yes, a traditional handwritten checklist can definitely suffice, especially if you are the type of person who remembers things better once they are written down. However, why go through all that stress when helpful online tools (Google Drive or having an online workbook) can make your life a whole lot easier.
But, if you aren’t exactly sure how to start crafting the perfect wedding checklist, I always recommend starting off by mapping out your budget first. This is extremely important for newly engaged couples who are trying to keep costs low, as it can keep you both on track, without stumbling across any surprise expenses along the way.
Once your budget is finalized, it’s always wise to start beefing up your checklist with the stages of the wedding in mind. To do just that, I am breaking down some helpful planning pointers below.
Wedding Planning Checklist: Initial Stage Essentials
When you have a clearer picture on what your budget will look like, I advise newly engaged couples to break down their checklist in stages, with the first stage being at the top of the list.
At the beginning stage of wedding planning (which can come shortly after your engagement), be sure to make sure your checklist begins to layout potential items of interest. This includes making a list of venues, bridal gown options, potential guest and vendor list, and individuals you are thinking about including in the wedding party.
And if you are the type of bride who already has a set vision in mind, you can also utilize your checklist to begin writing out a wedding timeline too.
Middle Stage Wedding Planning Checklist
When the middle stage of wedding planning comes rolling along, you should have most of your vendors booked at this point. With this in mind, I recommend making sure your checklist reflects all the important details pertaining to your vendors including contact info and payment balances.
Additionally, your checklist at this stage should also include other important wedding details that typically come after your venue is booked. These include rehearsal dinner spaces, welcome bags, your accessories, bridal attire, invitations, and save-the-dates.
Final Stage Wedding Planning Checklist
Finally, the last phase of your wedding planning checklist should include all the last-minute tasks that need to be done before the big day arrives.
This includes giving your vendors a breakdown of the final timeline, making sure you have all invoices paid, creating a packing list, and ensuring you have all the bridal accessories you need for the wedding.
Checklist Takeaways to Remember
Let’s face it: wedding planning can be stressful. Like a second glass of wine stressful. That’s why I always encourage brides to take a breather throughout the process, as you never want to make wedding planning feel like a full-time job you absolutely hate.
Taking a breather also means minimizing stressful arguments between you and your husband-to-be, should he be a type-A groom who wants to be involved in the whole process.
To make things as peaceful a possible for you both, be sure to make your fiance part of your checklist (don’t be afraid to give him tasks!), so he doesn’t feel left out.

Until next time,
