HOW TO PREPARE YOUR SKIN FOR WEDDING DAY

Choosing the right makeup artist for your wedding is crucial. Wedding planning can take a toll on your skin, and it's important to avoid unnecessary stress. As a Wedding Planner, my priority is to help clients achieve fresh, radiant skin for their special day. Teaming up with New York's top makeup artists, I provide expert tips and tricks to maintain healthy, clean, and fresh-looking skin.

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, and you want to look and feel your best. One way to achieve that radiant bridal glow is by preparing your skin in advance, says Juliana Fink of JFinkBeauty

Start Early: Preparing your skin for your wedding day should ideally begin months in advance. This will give you enough time to address any skin concerns and establish a skincare routine that works for you. Starting early allows your skin to adjust to new products and treatments gradually, avoiding any last-minute surprises.

2. Professional Skincare Treatments: Consider incorporating professional skincare treatments into your pre-wedding skincare routine. Consult with a dermatologist or esthetician to determine which treatments would be most beneficial for your skin type and concerns. Some popular options include facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser treatments. However, make sure to schedule these treatments well in advance to allow time for any potential side effects to subside. I recommend starting these treatments at least 8 months prior to the big day

3. Hydration and Moisturization: Hydrated skin is happy skin. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated from within. Additionally, use a moisturizer that suits your skin type to lock in moisture and prevent dryness. Moisturizing regularly helps to maintain the skin’s natural barrier and keeps it supple and nourished. Adding a hyaluronic acid to your daily skin care routine is super beneficial.

4. Healthy Lifestyle Choices: Your skin’s appearance is greatly influenced by your overall health and lifestyle choices. Prioritize a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and antioxidants to nourish your skin from within. Get enough sleep to allow your body to repair and regenerate, and manage stress levels through exercise. Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, as they can have detrimental effects on your skin’s health. Remember, taking care of your skin is not just for your wedding; it’s a lifelong investment in your overall well-being and confidence.

“Clients can focus on skincare in the months before their wedding weekend with basic steps.”

Ask your makeup artist for recommendations on local facialists and then start seeing the facialist monthly before the wedding. Stay consistent with a basic skincare routine

“The weeks before the wedding, taper off alcohol, drink a lot of water, and sleep as much as you can.” says Sharon Becker of SB Beauty

All of these steps will make you feel great, and also create the most beautiful, clean, confident and glowing canvas for makeup. Also, mind your tan lines in backless or strapless dresses! Secure a talented tanning artist or use a gradual self tanner to eliminate tan lines before the wedding. Your makeup artist will do the rest.

“It is such an exciting day so remember to stay hydrated. Skincare is just as important as makeup.”

“Definitely try out products in advance to make sure you are comfortable and work with your makeup artist ahead of time to create a look that makes you feel as good as you look on your wedding day.” says Gillian Lite

Setting spray is key and have a few products that you can use to touch up when your artist leaves. Most of all have fun and take it all in.

“Hydration is just as important as skincare leading up to your wedding, says Chante Cutter”. Getting on a skincare regimen for your specific skin type is key!

The way to get your skin prepped is to start from within. Hydration, fruits and vegetables are a must. I love to add in some coconut water too.

“Skincare must haves: eye cream, night serum, a great moisturizer that can be used day and night.”

I prefer an exfoliating pad as it is less irritating. Check in with your artist about morning of skin prep. Most artists like to prep the skin with their tried and true products. Don’t forget rehearsal dinner drink ratio: for every alcoholic beverage drink a glass of water.

“To prepare skin for the wedding day, drink lots of water. Hydrate and de-puff the skin. Do not do a facial, tanning, waxing etc.

“The month of your wedding facials sometimes bring out the toxins in the skin causing break outs.” says Amy Klewitz.

You also don’t want any accidents with tanning, waxing, or eyelash extensions. If you’re going to try anything new beauty related. Do it months or a month before to avoid any accidents.

If you take care of your skin your skin will take care of you. Make sure services such as facials are done 2 weeks before.

“Most importantly make sure you wash and exfoliate your face well the day before or the morning of”, says Crystal Minnella

Book your artist according to your style not popularity. Having payment all in one before the services begin, makes the transition smoother than chasing down the bride and bridesmaid during the day of
