THE MAKING OF A WEDDING AT 620 LOFT & GARDEN

Thinking back on this particular wedding, I am reminded of the mix of nerves and excitement that filled the air that day. Frank and Lailina’s wedding took place on what turned out to be the hottest day in New York City for the month of May, adding an extra layer of intensity to the already bustling city atmosphere.

The choice of 620 Loft and Garden in NYC for their special day was a dream come true for me, as it’s a venue I had long admired since the early days of my career in 2013. Despite my familiarity with the venue over the years, nothing could have prepared me for the unexpected challenge that awaited us on the wedding day. Waking up that morning, brimming with anticipation and energy after my morning coffee, little did I know that a parade-induced road closure on 5th Avenue from 50th street down to 59th would throw a curveball at us.

This unforeseen obstacle threw our carefully planned schedule into disarray, testing my ability to navigate through chaos with calm and precision. With a sizeable production and a team of about 20 vendors to coordinate, the situation demanded quick thinking and adaptability. Add to that the logistical hurdle of transporting the couple from St. Regis in a classic New York Yellow Cab through the maze of roadblocks, and you have a day that truly put our skills to the test.

In the end, it was a testament to the resilience and professionalism of every vendor involved that the day unfolded seamlessly despite the challenges. This experience reinforced the fundamental truth of event planning: expect the unexpected and rise to the occasion with grace and composure. As the captain of the ship on a wedding day, it is essential to steer through rough waters with confidence, knowing that your actions set the tone for everyone onboard.
