GUIDE FOR BRIDESMAIDS: ENSURING THE BRIDE'S HAPPINESS ON HER WEDDING DAY

We all appreciate that a bridesmaid’s crucial role is to offer unwavering support to the bride, accompanying her not only from the engagement's inception but also throughout the journey leading up to the wedding day. Nonetheless, it's notable that our dearest friends, siblings, and future sister-in-laws vary in nature, inevitably leading to having a bridesmaid with a challenging disposition in the bridal party. It can be quite a concern. As the wedding day is meant to solely focus on the bride, it is essential to be mindful of any potentially troublesome bridesmaids to prevent any unnecessary disruptions.

Here are a few bridesmaid etiquette suggestions for both the bride and the bridal party to ensure a smooth and harmonious celebration.

Don’t Be A Diva!

A bridesmaid's role on the wedding day should be similar to that of a caring big sister, as the early hours of the big day can be a bit stressful if there isn’t a planner involved. Your job is to keep the bride calm, make her laugh, and to always motivate her, especially if she has a bad case of the pre-wedding jitters. It is essential for all bridesmaids (maid of honor included) to remember to never overshadow the bride. This means maintaining composure, completing all assigned tasks, regardless of their size, and always focusing on making the bride's day truly special.

Don’t Overwhelm The Bride!

A good bridesmaid always strives to support the bride throughout the wedding preparations. It is important to alleviate her burden by taking on essential tasks and looking out for her well-being. Simple gestures like reminding her to have breakfast, organizing her wedding essentials, and managing the schedule can go a long way in helping her stay calm and focused amidst the busyness and excitement leading up to the big day.

Don’t Get The Bride Drunk Either!

While weddings are all about celebration, joy, and creating unforgettable memories, it is crucial for bridesmaids to ensure that the bride does not consume excessive alcohol both before and during the wedding. Excessive drinking could result in potentially embarrassing situations (and endless questions from family members), especially if it occurs during the bachelorette party the night before the big day. Therefore, bridesmaids should also be attentive during the reception to ensure the bride does not overindulge, as she will surely cherish a beautiful wedding video of the special day for years to come.

How The Bride Should Deal With That Eye Roll-Inducing Bridesmaid

And if you happen to be a bride reading this, you’ll want to remember that it’s perfectly fine for you to assert yourself if a very controlling bridesmaid tries to dominate and take charge. However, rather than engaging in a heated argument (since the wedding day is already full of stress), gently attempt to convey to her that the focus should be on love and joy, not on work obligations.

Thank you for reading.

Until next time,

Ciao!
